beled_el_djinnSo I've be watching John Ford's The Searchers over the past few days, and I have to say, I really like this film, my problems with the ending non-withstanding. John Ford was an incredible director and I think I finally can appreciate John Wayne as an actor. If you at all like westerns or John Ford movies in general and you haven't seen this, you should.
For those of you who want the same story with a more realistic ending, I'd suggest picking up a copy of the book by Alan Le May. It is what the movie was based on and apparently doesn't wuss out at the end. I'll know for sure once I secure a copy for myself.
