Whenever I listen to music, I end up revisiting memories tied to specific songs - hearing Add it Up reminds me of driving with my friend Sherry, Head Like a Hole always reminds me of being on a bus heading to AB High School for the Drama Competition, Trip Like I Do reminds me of phone calls to Nikki, Hard reminds me of breaking up with Robin, etc... The songs are always tied into the memories memories given that they were playing when the memories happened, except for The Cowboy Junkies song Come Calling. For whatever reason, whenever I hear the version they did for WXRV's music series, I'm transported to Dover, NH in the late Fall. That first chord contains all the longing and frustration, sorrow and hope I ever felt in that town. Given that I never heard that song until after I moved back down to MA, I'm always at a loss to explain the connection, other than that it just fits.
